Crafting Overdrive

Ughhh.... so I've totally been flaking out from blogging... I've gone into crafting overdrive... so here's a little of what I've been up to.....

I saw these leg warmers on Pintrest and decided that I must own them, so I busted out the old crochet hook and made my own look-alike.  Whadya think! She was selling them for $85.00, my total supply costs where; 2 skeens of regular yarn 10 NIS/each, two packages of buttons 2.50NIS/each =  25.00 NIS (New Israeli Shekel) divide that by 4 = $6.25 Is how much i paid for my new leg warmers!!! WOOHOOO!

and ohhhh dear... Picasa has just warned me that I can no longer add pictures with out taking some off..... What to dooo?? ohhh Noo!?!?!?

If the Jacket Fits then Wear it!

My white linen suit jacket is the perfect summer item, linen is a natural fiber and lets your skin breathe, aka allows sweat to escape, keeping you dry on those sticky days. Although it's much to hot to wear a jacket while the sun is shining here I think my white jacket will be perfect for the breezy evenings by the sea.

I really think the jacket is something special but I've hardly worn it in the four plus years I've owned it!!! Money just sitting there wasting away!  I pulled it from my closet, and it still fit, so I began matching away. I tried to find blouses with a pattern that had white in them, in order to compliment and blend the jacket into the look.

In this outfit there are a lot of different elements working to keep the look cohesive. The scarf and necklace are what makes everything work together. The aqua scarf has pops of yellow, which compliments the yellow camisole and the necklace has dark wood, aqua and light creamy yellow beads, which accents all the pieces in the wardrobe. This is what we call Fashion Feng Shui. The over all look is natural and earthy. This outfit would have to be my favorite look incorporating the white linen jacket, I would wear this any day of the week!

This patterned shirt, I love but have only worn it once since I bought it six months ago. Something about it, I just couldn't match it with anything until it met my white linen jacket! That's why " Like a good party, your clothing should mingle"

Until next time!

Stay Comfortable, Stay Cool, Stay YOU!

Break it With a Belt

I really love my tunic style, shirt dress it is lengthening, slimming,  made from cotton and I bought at a bargain price ($7 from Winners).  I really  feel like I could really get some more wear out of this dress, the only time I've worn it I felt a little plain, and not very put together.  So in attempt to wear my cute, cotton, tunic dress I have made two new outfits never before seen, that help complete and compliment the fabulous dress that I don't wear enough.

If it's so great then why  don't I wear it very often?? I thought about it and the dress it's self is quite simple, very plain, lots of brown.     This style of shirt gives me a very long torso and a big block of brown colour where my wait should be, making my upper body appear somewhat blockish. To combat this in both of the new outfits I have used belts to break up the brown and to define my waist, which makes my waist look smaller and my legs longer. Also, adding an extra punch of colour draws the eye in to the narrowest part of my waist making me look skinnier than I am. Which makes my tunic dress a very valuable treasure.

In my hunt for the Quadrillions of Possibilities I have found two new Outfits that I'll  be sure to wear. I've improved my wardrobe's flexibility once again by purchasing nothing!  So next time you walk by your closet pull out your shirt dress and break it up with a belt, or a scarf!!

Compulsive Impulsive Disorder

Soooo you've heard of OCD over compulsive disorder , and you've heard of 'the impulse buyer' well have you heard of COMPULSIVE IMPULSIVE DISORDER??? It's time you learn, we seem to all suffer some form of C.I.D. and the cases range from mild to severe.

Compulsive Impulsive disorder results in random  pieces of clothing, that you don't normally wear, but somehow you love it. Well to assess myself honestly I definitely sit somewhere just above the middle range of severity, which lands me with some pretty 'unique' clothing, that I have never ever worn....

Its CID bad? well friends it can be a big waste of money with minimal or zero satisfaction. CID purchases can wind up making you  feel guilty and really the only thing you are guilty of is buying something you  loved without considering how it might work with what you regularly wear.  Now stop feeling bad right now, because all the Compulsive Impulsive Purchases sitting in your closet are waiting for you.

Talk about challenges this was the hardest mix and matchup I've come across yet, CID purchases are like that. If you are ready for a test here's your chance, dig out that old CID purchase that you've never worn and start thinking outside of the box. It won't be easy at first but once you hit a creative streak you will be surprised how that old CID purchase can actually be worn in public.

Let me tell you about the most recent CID purchase I've made. I love shawls and scarves, and even ponchos! YES PONCHOS, I've almost always had at least one poncho in the closet. So this winter while shopping in winners, I saw this beautiful crocheted poncho, it's so soft, it's a little bit sparkly, feels like a blanket, and it has flowers on it!! I loved it the second I saw it, and carried it around the entire store wondering if I should really splurge and buy a poncho.... I realized that there was currently no poncho in my closet, and  I was sold.. I had to have it, I felt like I was set up, it had my name written all over it... But it's A poncho... do you think I've worn it?? NOT ONCE.... not even inside the house. There is nothing like wearing a blanket in public and getting away with it...I had to have it.... This is the definition of  Compulsive Impulsive Disorder. Even while buying it I knew the chances of me ever wearing it were really slim... but I just wanted it... had to have it.. I probably could have stopped myself.. but I didn't... .. sound familiar?

Well if you are like me and you still love all your CID purchases then pull them out of the closet and start integrating them into outfits that you think you'll actually wear. Work with your disorder you bought it because you liked it, it's fun and it shows your personality and you'll wear it if it looks good, all you need to do it match it up! So let's go, if I can do it with a sparkly, flowery, crocheted, poncho then I am sure you can handle whatever your closet throws at you!

Finding Fashion Feng Shui

Ten outfits down over 65 Quadrillion to go! If Knowledge is Power, then this power gives you the super star ability to never wear the same thing twice! I know that's just ludacris, I love my favourite jeans and t combo that's a staple and will be repeated notoriously. But for all those other days when you feel you should be your shiny fabulous self, which should be most of the time, bust out one of your  flowing, fashionable outfits and you'll feel on top of the world. Try walking around in one of your new-found coordinated outfits and I guarantee you will feel more confident when everything flows together to help reflect who you are, it's only natural to feel beautiful from the inside out.

There is just something that I love about cohesiveness nooo not GLUE, the flow of how little elements working together to create an overall big impact. Kinda like Feng Shui, your "get-ups" should harmonize. In order to harmonize you need balance, balance can be found by 'Clearing out the Clutter', a basic principal in   Feng Shui. Too much of anything blocks the natural flow of energy.

Soooooo in fashion terms it's really just a matter of less is more.  In my continuing quest for unending fresh fashion I have come across a dilemma that I am sure I am not alone in, I do not want too look like everyone else my desire is to be able to stand out and show my quirky wild-side, but somehow still feel sleek, sophisticated and elegant.

If you're like me you have a favourite pair of super cool, super fun earrings, but because they are sooooooOOOoOoOO special they maybe don't match everything or they are such a huge statement piece its hard to pair it with other accessories and clothing that won't be over the top. BUT you love those over the top earrings that you have! They reflect who you are and they certainly can allow your personality shine if matched up with just the right things. For example I own these stunning orchid earrings, they are made of REAL orchids they are by far the most delicate piece of jewelry I have ever owned in my entire life. My darling husband picked out these beauties all by himself while he was in New York quite a few years back. To tell you the truth it's another one of those items that I looOOOoove sooooo much that I'm afraid to wear them! WHAT'S THE POINT OF HAVING THEM IF I'M NOT GONNA LOVE THEM LIKE THEY DESERVE???

The saddest part is that I can count the number of times I've worn them on one hand... Sad... terribly sad... Why have I been hiding them away all these years????? Due to their sheer magnificence I have honestly been scared to wear them, they are beautiful, loud statements hanging from my ears and my clothing that day needs to coordinate or I might just look like the tree hugging, crazy, flower lady that I am.... Sooo here we go, in an attempt to showcase my brilliant jewelry I have tastefully and carefully selected clothing that would accent, and compliment my nearly unbelievable orchid earrings. Finding Fashion Feng Shui  with your wildest pieces allows you to highlight your personality, while keeping your look modern and sophisticated. Tip: Pull one colour from your unique piece of jewelry and use neutrals to frame and accessorize the louder pieces you chose. The look ends up being more dramatic and has a bigger impact than if you had hot pink wild jewelry and clothes everywhere. Remember to choose one piece of 'crazy' jewelry and let it be the focal point of your outfit.
