Finding Mintspiration

I went shopping with my good friend Natalie, and I was supposed to be helping her find a dress and low and behold I managed to find one for myself, well I had an armful to try on so the chances  of me finding one were pretty good. It just so happened by chance that the most  stunning one, a mint one shoulder dress, fit the best out of all of them, the lines seemed to fit perfect to my body. How could I not buy it? Even Nat was like,
" WOAH YOU SO HAVE TO BUY THAT DRESS"

So I did, and I took it home and I was so excited and I felt so inspired by my new mint dress that the moment I got home I began to mix and match my new mint dress with my accessories and shoes! It took me about an hour but I created 10 great ways to wear my spectacular mint dress. The next time I am busy getting ready and I want to wear my mint dress I won't even have to think because I have invented some great looks already with this dress ahead of time I can just throw it all on and won't even have to debate if it looks good or not!  When I am under pressure to get ready I can never make a decision on time and always end up choosing the easiest "safe"  option. This way my choices are easy, I pick an already arranged outfit that suits my mood that day. Also planning and coordinating outfits regularly actually makes it easier to mix and match on the spot because you already kinda have an idea of what accessories/shoes work with what colours you have in your closet.

Mint came back into fashion this summer season and I hope it sticks around. Mint has always been a favourite of mine. I swear the colour mint evens out my skin tone and makes me look way more tanned than I actually am, and for my pastie white ass that's a great thing!

I used to own a mint double breasted  cropped mint jacket, it was honestly one of my most favourite pieces of clothing of all time. That is until a rogue pair of pink panties got mixed into my lights and brights laundry load and my mint jacket came out with pink splotches all over. I tried everything to get the pink out but the splotches wouldn't budge the jacket was ruined. It was a sad day in North York the day my mint jacket died.... RIP

Stay tuned there are already more mintspirational outfits in production and I have a feeling there will be even more in the near future!

STAY MINTY!

Break it With a Belt

I really love my tunic style, shirt dress it is lengthening, slimming,  made from cotton and I bought at a bargain price ($7 from Winners).  I really  feel like I could really get some more wear out of this dress, the only time I've worn it I felt a little plain, and not very put together.  So in attempt to wear my cute, cotton, tunic dress I have made two new outfits never before seen, that help complete and compliment the fabulous dress that I don't wear enough.

If it's so great then why  don't I wear it very often?? I thought about it and the dress it's self is quite simple, very plain, lots of brown.     This style of shirt gives me a very long torso and a big block of brown colour where my wait should be, making my upper body appear somewhat blockish. To combat this in both of the new outfits I have used belts to break up the brown and to define my waist, which makes my waist look smaller and my legs longer. Also, adding an extra punch of colour draws the eye in to the narrowest part of my waist making me look skinnier than I am. Which makes my tunic dress a very valuable treasure.

In my hunt for the Quadrillions of Possibilities I have found two new Outfits that I'll  be sure to wear. I've improved my wardrobe's flexibility once again by purchasing nothing!  So next time you walk by your closet pull out your shirt dress and break it up with a belt, or a scarf!!

Sports Shorts Disguised

I have this amazing pair of shorts that I absolutely love! They are everything I need in a pair of shorts; not too short, comfortable, flattering and fun! I really want to be able to wear them everyday, so I have created outfits that are great for any occasion.

These shorts are more on the sportier side, and tend to look extremely casual. Which is quite alright for some days, but most certainly not  for all. By pairing the causal, sporty shorts with other dressier pieces the over all look becomes fun and purposely put together.

I was surprised by the shorts versatility, despite their casualness, they worked together with pieces like my cropped grey suit jacket, which I never imagined could be possible! I just needed a little creativity, and in that moment these never seen and never worn before outfits were born.
     "GOLD!"
I tell you just sitting there in our closets waiting to be discovered.

My sporty shorts mingled with my business casual pieces until mix match harmonies were found and documented. All were happy on this glorious occasion, for I will forever be comfy and cool wearing my lightweight boarding shorts in disguise  as everyday fashionable clothing!  The flexibility of your sporty shorts will surprise you, they are the gymnasts in our closets!

Wear Your White For Once

Sooooo we all love the colour white, some of us are afraid to wear it, I know my mom doesn't own white clothing only because she thinks the colour washes her out, some people think it makes them look bigger like my husband,  my sister in-law has twin boys aged three and well she rather not wear white because she already has her share of stains to take care of... Me I love white always have and always will, but  I make a mess and stain my whites just like the everyone else and that is why God, I mean Proctor & Gamble made Tide Pens! (I just about always have one in my purse)

White is a refreshing neutral that works well with so many colours, just fiddle around with some of your accessories and I'm sure you'll find a new fresh look that you'll        feel comfortable wearing !

So I noticed I've been avoiding my white linen pants I seriously had not worn them in ages.... and why would that be? Well first and foremost white pants can be overwhelming and make you look overdone, if not accessorized correctly. So most importantly we need to plan outfits ahead of time to make sure those white pants don't wear us.

I've compiled BRAND NEW OUTFITS that I have never ever worn before, in an attempt to circulate the white pants back into my everyday wardrobe. After I organized these outfits I had a holiday family dinner to go to and got the perfect chance to wear one of my brand new outfits, I felt like a million bucks and I knew I looked good!

You bought those white pants, live a little on the wild side, and wear your white for once!

XOXOXOXO

Embarking On The First Mission of Math and Fashion

Have you ever looked into your closet and in frustration said "UGH I have nothing to wear...!!" well honestly who hasn't?  If you know me you know I'm the last person on earth who should be saying that. In order of importance; shoes, jewelry and clothing are something of a sick obsession of mine. Having been employed in both a clothing store and a shoe store no one is denying it... I have an addiction. Soooo in order to combat my addiction and still give it that comfort of new things I've decided to do some math and really figure out if I do actually have anything to wear......

Let's say you have 15 wear-out appropriate tank tops, 10 pairs of pants, 10 jackets, 10 blouses, 10 sweaters/cardigans, 10 nice blouses, 5 pairs of shorts and 5 skirts. LETS JUST SAY.. okay... that means you own 65 pieces of clothing that you are willing to wear out in public. Do have any idea how many possible combinations that is?? I've done the math and it gives you 262 080 possible outfit combinations!!! UMMM MIND BLOWN.... okay okay great news for all of us ladies, that means that there are hundreds of thousands of new outfits waiting to be tried on just sitting there FREE in your closet. Now let's say we accessorize lets add 10 earnings, 5 bracelets, 10 necklaces, 5 belts 10 scarves, and 5 purses. that gives your wardrobe 110 pieces to work with, if you have to choose 7 of those items every time, you now have 160 381 850 428 800 possibilities.  That number just to let you know is 160 TRILLION possibilities... okay lets add a shoe collection  (20 pairs) and now we have 65 486 851 073 280 000 possible outfit combinations. That means you have over 65 QUADRILLION OPTIONS!

Sounds kind of crazy but let's forget shopping for awhile and re-purpose a Quadrillion new outfits that we have waiting for us. Okay obviously not everything is going to match, but with  262 080 possible combinations for your clothing pieces I'm sure you'll find something that will match.

This is exactly what I have started to do. With that feeling of UUUGhhh I have nothing to wear, comes a dark cloud of non-creativity, and for some reason everything I try on at that moment I end up disliking more than the last thing. Vicious cycle right... well How to stop the cycle???? I have been digging in my closet and combining things that I have to make new and exciting outfits that I've never worn before. So whenever I'm feeling creative I open my closet door and make a couple new outfits...

Maybe you're like me and have a pair of pants that you love and they are your favorite BUT you never wear them... Weird but true, I think I like them sooo much I'm afraid to wear to them. So the other day I pulled out my favourite pair of pants and started making new outfits that worked and looked good with my pants. I made new outfit combinations that I wouldn't have normally thought of if I had the pressure of getting dressed to go somewhere. It was fun, and who knew that those pants looked so good so many different ways.

It just took a little bit of creativity and time, but the results were so rewarding I felt like I had a brand new wardrobe after coordinating some old and new pieces that I had never worn together!

It felt as if I had struck gold! I felt rich with the infinite possibilities at my fingertips I mixed and matched clothing, accessories, and shoes for hours until all my creative juices were sapped! The pictures you see here are the fruits of my efforts!

So I have taken some pictures of the outfits that I made so next time I pull open my closet and Say " UUUGGhhhh I have nothing to wear!!" I will take a look at the pictures and find an outfit that will suit my mood and outing.

10 Brand New Outfits Which I have Never Worn, all from the same pair of super cute pants which I officially vow to wear this year! Which One is your Favourite?
